NEWCASTLE reportedly fear they will lose centre-back Fabian Schar on a free transfer this summer.
The Daily Mail claims Schar, 30, is a serious target for several top European clubs including Serie A hopefuls Napoli.
Fellow Italian title contenders AC Milan are also keen.
Schar is drawing interest from Spain as well, with Sevilla and Valencia putting him on their shortlist.
Newcastle are now worried Schar may strike a pre-contract agreement with one of his suitors.
Eddie Howe’s Toon have won their last two Premier League games.
But there is still a long way to go in their survival fight, with just four points separating Newcastle from the drop zone.
Schar, who was linked with Bordeaux in January, could be tempted by a move abroad to an established side fighting for trophies.

The Switzerland international has been at St James’ Park since 2018 following a £3million switch from Deportivo La Coruna.
He has made 86 appearances for Newcastle in that time and is a key player in Howe’s XI, starting in 12 out of 13 games under the new Toon gaffer.
But having signed a new partner for Schar in Brighton’s Dan Burn, Howe could soon be forced into yet another defensive signing.
Lille’s Sven Botman was Newcastle’s top choice last month, but his club refused to entertain offers.
It’s also been claimed Newcastle were rebuffed by Inter Milan when they made an audacious bid for Stefan de Vrij.
Howe’s latest target is said to be Fiorentina ace Nikola Milenkovic, who was linked with Manchester United last year.
