COPS have launched a murder probe after the death of a pensioner found seriously hurt at a London home.
Police and paramedics were called to a property in Stainton Road, Enfield in the early hours of this morning.
There, they found a badly-injured 84-year-old woman.
She died at the scene.
A man has been arrested.
He remains in custody for questioning today.
Met Police officials said: “A murder investigation has been launched following the death of a woman in Enfield.
“At approximately 2.15am on Sunday, January 30, officers attended a residential address in Stainton Road, Enfield following concerns for the welfare of an elderly woman.
“Officers found the 84-year-old woman suffering from a number of injuries.
“She was pronounced dead a short time later.
“A post-mortem examination will be held in due course.
“Next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.
“A 50-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder.
“He was taken to a north London police station where he remains in custody.
“The woman and man were known to each other.”

It’s the third murder investigation launched in London this week.
On Monday, January 24, a 46-year-old woman was found dead following a house fire in Railton Road, Lambeth.
Police were called to the scene just after 4am.
The blaze is being treated as suspicious, and a 47-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy have been arrested.
On the same day, mum-of-two Yasmin Chkaifi – also known as Wafat – was stabbed in Maida Vale by ex Leon McCaskre.
McCaskre was then mown down by a driver trying to save Yasmin’s life.
