The actress was born Amanda Jane Smith on February 28, 1974 in North London.
The actress most recently appeared in the Netflix drama, Safe as Detective Sergeant Sophie Mason.
She was married to Martin Freeman but the couple have since split.
It was announced in 2016 that Amanda and Martin split after being together for 16 years.
In January of that year, it was revealed by The Sun that Martin was confronted by Amanda over a friendship with a showbiz researcher in the weeks before their shock split.
Furious Amanda was said to have raised questions over the unlikely friendship in the run up to the end of their 16 year relationship.
A source told The Sun: “Amanda was absolutely furious about it – she confronted him over his relationship with the woman, who works in the business too, and demanded answers.
The couple shared two children together.
They have one daughter called Grace and one son called Joe.
Neither Martin or Amanda has gone on to have any other children since.
Amanda has had many recognisable TV roles, but perhaps one of her most recognisable is her character Miss Mardle in Mr Selfridge, which she took on in 2013.

Amanda also played various characters in police drama The Bill until 2007.
During that time she also appeared in Wycliffe, Casualty, Dream Team, The Sins, Shades, Doc Martin, Coupling, and Teachers.
