THE Chase fans were convinced that soap legend Adam Woodyatt was a contestant on Thursday’s episode.
ITV presenter Bradley Walsh, 61, was joined by four more hopefuls including 56-year-old contestant Danny from Bournemouth.
The live music venue owner, 56, made fans do a double take after spotting an uncanny resemblance to soap star Adam Woodyatt, who plays businessman Ian Beale in the BBC One soap.
The contestant, who is originally from south east London, told Bradley Walsh, 61, that he was hoping to win some money to buy another banjo.
Danny impressed the host and his fellow teammates after he answered seven questions correctly – giving him a total of £7,000 in the cashbuilder round.
Although he was tempted to take the higher offer from Darragh ‘The Menace’ Ennis, he stuck with what he had earned in the first round and managed to make it back to the final chase.
However, ITV viewers were gobsmacked at the similarities between contestant Danny and EastEnders actor Adam – with some fans calling Danny his “doppelganger”.
One fan wrote: “#TheChase #IanBeale #AdamWoodyatt #doppleganger.”
Another posted: “Wow is Ian Beale on The Chase tonight. #TheChase.”
A third joked: #AdamWoodyatt great effort on #TheChase.”
“Seat 1 guy giving serious Ian Beale vibes,” another commented.
Another hilariously shared: “I swear this chap could be Adam Woodyatt twin. #TheChase.”
“That fella on #TheChase not a ringer for Ian Beale from EastEnders, someone else said.
Another added: “Ant and Dec pranking Bradley again…that’s clearly Adam Woodyatt or however you spell his name. #TheChase
Unfortunately, contest Zack, 34, a solicitor from Bradford was knocked out of the competition.
Danny was joined by Emily, 27, a manager from Newcastle and Sandra, 74, a retired lecturer from Lowestoft in the final chase with a total prize pot of £17,000.
With 17 spaces to catch the players, Darragh has his work cut out.
Despite executing their only push back, the team was caught out by ‘The Menace’ with 27 seconds to spare.
The Chase is on weekdays on ITV at 5pm.
