ANTIQUES Roadshow host surprised a guest with an impressive item valuation.
Antiques Roadshow host and expert Lennox Cato, 60, was quick to a punch line on this week’s show after a guest didn’t believe his valuation of her item.

Antique fans and auction lovers attended to showcase their items, but a box with an interesting history caught expert Lennox’s attention.
When sharing his expertise, the owner found it hard to believe the item’s value and doubted the host.
On inspecting the box, Lennox figured out that it was made by Napoleonic prisoners of war.
On examining the detail, he said: “It’s just unbelievable.”
The owner, clearly also impressed with the design and interior of the box, said: “It’s just fabulous inside, yes.”
Inside, the item had several compartments, each with a different picture on the door to that section.
Lennox said: “The prisoners of war, what they used to do, they would sit down and make these things.
“They would come out, out of the prison, like an open prison, and sell them on the streets.”
Getting to the point, he added: “As an ordinary box just like that, as soon as I saw it, I thought its worth between £500 and £600.
“It may fetch £1,000 pushing it.”
Pleasantly surprised, the owner said in shock: “Good gracious.”
With the exterior of the box fetching such a generous fee, once Lennox lifted the lid to show off its interior, he changed his offer and went back with: “When you see that, you say £3,000.”
She replied: “You’re joking. You are joking, you’re not serious.
He quipped without skipping a beat: “No, I’m not a comedian,” which caused the audience to erupt in laughter.
There is a whole host of experts who helm the show.
Antiques Roadshow airs Sundays at 7pm on BBC Two.
