TESCO shoppers desperate to bag themselves a Christmas delivery have been left in virtual queues with hundreds of thousands of people.
Booking for the coveted slots opened this morning at 6am for those who pay for Delivery Saver.
Festive slots are always in demand from supermarkets[/caption]The £7.99 subscription offers early access to booking ahead of the general release of Christmas delivery slots.
But furious Tesco shoppers have complained of long waits for slots and then being unable to book.
One shopper said: “Joined before 6am, 300k place in the queue…
“An hour later, the wait was 10mins. Then it went back up to 40mins. Now the queue has been paused. I’ve been using the app, no ‘app trick’ for me”
Another said: “We’ll just sat an hour and 20 minutes to book a @Tesco delivery slot. No slots left! So much for being a loyal weekly online customer for 20 years.”
A third said: “Been waiting since 5.45am, queueing since, hubby opened the app and gets straight in nearly two hours after I joined the queue. Not happy”
Hundreds of shoppers have taken to social media to complain to the supermarket.
Many shared a picture of their position in the virtual queue – showing thousands waiting ahead of them.
Delivery Saver members get free delivery and collection on grocery spends above £40 or £25 if you use click and collect from the supermarket.
Subscribers can also book delivery slots four weeks in advance and collect Clubcard points on their membership on top of their groceries.
The biggest plus, though, is priority access to prime-time delivery slots at Christmas and Easter.
Anyone else who’s not signed up will have to wait until November 23.
Last year Tesco warned customers that it was almost sold out of Christmas delivery slots – a day before they were widely released.
Shoppers scrambled to book slots last year as the country was in lockdown.
But some customers have said the process for booking the all important festive food deliveries is better than last Christmas.
“Much better online Christmas delivery booking system this year from @Tesco,” one shopper tweeted.
“The queue works well and estimated wait meant only having to check the screen a few times.
“An hour after the start time and there were still slots left for two thirds of the 23rd after I had finished.”
We’ve asked Tesco for comment and will update when we hear back.
Meanwhile Ocado shoppers were left disappointed after Christmas delivery slots sold out in OCTOBER.
