I’M A Celebrity fans hold the power a week before the series starts as ITV open the voting for telly’s most gruesome tasks.
The broadcaster has kick-started the polls for the gripping reality series, again set in Wales’ Gwrych Castle, with viewers now able to select their Bushtucker Trial target before they have even appeared on screen.
This year, I’m A Celebrity‘s following will be able to place a whopping five votes for free on the show’s app.
It comes in contrast to previous years, where ITV viewers have been able to watch the contestants enter camp during the first episode prior to selecting their victim.
Yet votes close today at 8pm – so there’s not long to go.
The show is renowned for its stomach-churning Bushtucker trials, which have seen contestants covered in bugs, buckets of slime and buried in rat-infested coffins as well as forced to chow down critters and kangaroo anus.
Last year, in a show first, presenters Ant and Dec were finally subjected to some of the grim tasks the Geordie pair usually stand and snigger at.
As a special celebration for the programme’s twentieth year, viewers watched the duo take on a Bushtucker Trial of their own.
The hilarious scenes were filmed in Australia last year ahead of the 2020 revamped series, which took place in a Welsh castle because of Covid restrictions.
It will be held in the same spooky location this time around.
Viewers have the full contingent of stars to select from when they make their voting choices.
The Sun revealed the full line-up, with an eclectic mix which will see some of the country’s best loved soap stars sharing the dunny with football heroes, while music legends will conjure up rice and beans alongside Olympians.
The series, which once again won’t be Down Under, returns on Sunday 21st November.
It will see Corrie legend Simon Gregson face his EastEnders counterpart Adam Woodyatt in the castle.
Former Strictly judge Arlene Phillips, 78, is set to be the show’s oldest contestant yet – after Harry Redknapp took part at 77.
The Saturdays singer Frankie Bridge is set to follow in the footsteps of husband Wayne on the show.
Meanwhile, TV star Richard Madeley, 65, is said to have agreed a contract worth an estimated £200,000.
Diving fans were delighted to hear that bosses have signed up Tom Daley’s Olympic diving partner Matty Lee.
Music producer Naughty Boy – real name Shahid Khan – was set to enter the castle last year but had to pull out at the last minute, and was hastily replaced by eventual runner-up Jordan North, yet this year is his year.
Radio 1 Extra host Snoochie Shy is heading into the castle later this month – to bring a spot of glamour – while Emmerdale’s Danny Miller will also be in camp.
Footy legend David Ginola is following in a long line of retired Premier League stars taking part in the show as is fellow sports star Kadeena Cox, 30, who competed as both a Paralympian and an able-bodied athlete bringing home a cluster of medals from the Rio games.
Louise Minchin, 53, left her job presenting BBC Breakfast in September after a glittering 20-year career in favour of jungle life.
Meanwhile, not available for voting just yet, Rudimental’s Locksmith has also gone into isolation and will be a stand by celebrity should one of the other stars drop out prematurely.
