THE X Factor’s Katie Waissel is retraining as a lawyer after failing to make it in music.
The singer, who appeared on the 2010 series of the ITV show, says she feels like Reese Witherspoon’s Legally Blonde character Elle Woods as she prepares to enroll in law school next month.
Katie, 35, insists she wants to undertake her new career in order to improve the world for her son Hudson, three.
She said: “I’m starting law school next month which is really cool and exciting. I do feel like Elle Woods or Erin Brockovich – either or. They are brilliant.”
Katie was driven to make the move in a bid to instigate change in the UK.
The single mum previously said she felt burned by the music industry and in April, claimed she was sexually assaulted by a member of the X Factor team in the US, years after her stint on the show.
Speaking about the reasons behind her career change, she explained on the Made By Mammas podcast: “People are transparent, there’s no place to hide anymore. People’s voices are heard and rightly so.
“I think that it’s important for the current laws and regulations to be modernised to coincide with that, which is what I’m working towards and why I’ve decided to start law school in September.
“I’m really passionate and dedicated to ensuring that those changes happen by the time the next generation comes into play.”
She isn’t the first reality star to have decided to pursue a career in law.
