FINDING a dupe for your favourite designer products can save you HUNDREDS – and Poundland may just be the perfect place to make these massive savings.
Here, Abby McHale tests out the budget store’s copies of some of your favourite products and marks them out of 10.
Charlotte Tilbury Light Wonder Foundation, £34; Poundland Keep On Glowing Foundation, £3.
Abby says: “A dupe for Charlotte Tilbury’s foundation at only £3?
“Poundland’s version is an absolute steal at this price.
“It does say ‘light coverage’ on the bottle and it definitely is very light, but you can build it up for fuller coverage.
“It had a pleasant smell too and it applied fairly easily.
“For a lightweight foundation I’m pretty impressed.
“It’s one that I’m going to pop in my make-up bag and will continue to use.”
Spectrum blush brush, £6.99; Jess Wright Beauty blusher brush for Poundland, £2.50.
Abby says: “The packaging on this brush – endorsed by Towie’s Jess Wright – is really pretty and would definitely be a nice addition to your make-up bag.
“The bristles are really soft and it packed on the product really well.
“When applying it went on smoothly and did the job as well as any other blusher brush I’ve used in the past. It’s yet another winner in my book.”
La Roche-Posay Micellar Water, £17; #6 Micellar Cleansing Water at Poundland, £1. Abby says: “I’m a big fan of micellar water, so I was intrigued to try Poundland’s version.
“It took my make-up off straight away, however it did sting my sensitive skin a little.
“But for a quick fix and cheap alternative you could pick this up and it will do the job.”
Olay Regenerist Age Defying Face Cream, £31.49, Boots; #6 Anti-ageing Retinol Day Cream with SPF25 at Poundland, £3.
Abby says: “For me, this is a little thick for a day cream. I prefer something that doesn’t feel too heavy, as I then apply SPF and foundation on top.
“But it comes with retinol and SPF25, which is an easy way to incorporate sunscreen into your skincare routine without stripping your skin. Not bad.”
White dress, £69, Warehouse; white dress, £16, Pep & Co at Poundland.
Abby says: “Pep & Co, Poundland’s own-brand clothing range, has everything for all the family at really affordable prices.
“This white midi dress really stood out to me, and at the bargain price of only £16, it was great value.
“I loved the fit and thought it was a great dupe for the trendy Warehouse version.
“The only downsides?
“It was slightly see-through on the top and the quality of the fabric wasn’t as good.”
Body Shop Coconut Body Butter, £18; Ferne McCann Coconut Fragrance body butter at Poundland, £1.
Abby says: “This is another Towie celebrity-endorsed product.
“The packaging and the smell are very reminiscent of The Body Shop’s popular body butter range.
“Poundland’s version comes with a handy second lid, which means less mess, and it’s a thick cream so a little goes a long way. But the scent wasn’t as strong as Body Shop’s version.”
Marc Jacobs Daisy, £65; Lily Petals body mist, Poundland, £1:
Abby says: “I’d heard Poundland had a dupe of Marc Jacobs’s famous scent Daisy, but I wasn’t convinced that something costing £1 could compete. Boy, was I wrong.
“One spray of this and you smell just like the designer scent. It lasts a fair few hours, again better than I thought, though you might want to keep it handy in your bag so you can keep topped up.”
No7 Protect & Perfect Advanced Serum, £25.95, Boots; #6 Anti-ageing Hyaluronic Facial Serum at Poundland, £3.
Abby says: “I tend to use serums that are more gel-like and clear as opposed to #6’s version which is creamier and used each day after cleansing your face.
“My first thoughts were how nice the scent was — it was fresh with notes of ginseng. It was really nice and light to apply and didn’t leave my face too sticky.
“Call me a convert. With both vitamin A and E plus hyaluronic acid which is meant to fight signs of ageing, this will be in my skincare routine for the foreseeable future.”
