AS Brits continue to enjoy freedom from Covid restrictions – there are still some things we will need to do to continue to enjoy events and activities.
Being double vaccinated not only prevents you from becoming severely ill with Covid – but will also allow you swerve quarantine and will mean you can attend big events such as concerts.
You must show proof of a full vaccination if you want to avoid quarantining on return from amber list countries[/caption]Transport secretary Grant Shapps previously confirmed that Brits will have to show proof of a full vaccination if they want to avoid quarantining when they arrive from countries on the amber list.
On July 19 Prime Minister Boris Johnson said that he would change the law to require proof of two doses of a Covid vaccine for entry into nightclubs or at venues where ‘large crowds gather’.
These plans are set to be introduced next month – as ministers say that’s when the majority of adults should have received two doses of a vaccine.
But how can I show proof and how do I get the NHS app? Below is everything you need to know…
The NHS app is free to download in England and Wales from the Apple Store if you have an iPhone and from Google Play if you have an android.
It is different to the NHS COVID 19 app which is used for contact tracing.
Search “NHS APP” and it should be the top result.
Once downloaded you must fill in your details such as your name, postcode and NHS number which will link back to your health record with your GP.
A new function has been added to the NHS app that allows users to show that they have been vaccinated or have been tested for Covid.
On May 7, Transport Secretary Grant Shapps said: “If needed, people in England who have both vaccine doses will be able to demonstrate their Covid vaccination status via the NHS app from May 17.
“Those without access to the app can request a letter from the NHS proving their vaccination status by calling 119, from 17 May.”
The proof of vaccine appears in the app the same way a boarding pass does for a flight – in a QR code.
As well as two doses of the vaccine, you can use the pass if you have a negative lateral flow tests 48 hours before an event – but this function will cease in September.
Yes, the app can be downloaded to laptops and smart tablets.
Yes, you can use the app to travel.
The vaccine function on the app will allow you to show officials both abroad and at home that you have been vaccinated or had a coronavirus test.
