THE nation has taken stricken Geronimo’s plight to its heart — but it’s no surprise we’re going crackers for the alpaca.
These funny looking creatures are steadily becoming a firm favourite across the country.
You can hire them to appear at your wedding for an unforgettable photoshoot alongside the bride and groom.
They can even walk down the aisle bearing the wedding rings.
There’s also alpaca yoga in which you can carry out your peaceful exercise in a field full of the comical creatures.
Alpaca trekking is also becoming popular.
Danielle Smith, 37, who runs AlTreka, in Baildon, West Yorks, said: “It’s a bit of a novelty going for a walk with an alpaca.
“They’re really comical animals. They love a tickle on the neck and they will lean into you for a cuddle.
“Many people who come on our treks say they wouldn’t normally go out for hour-long walks on the moors, so it’s good exercise.
“Children with learning difficulties can also benefit because they are such therapeutic animals.”
Alpacas have also found their way on to our high streets. From stationery to wallpaper, plates to jewellery, there’s plenty of merchandise for fans of these lovable animals.
