SEVERAL have been injured in a shooting in the Swedish town of Kristianstad, police had said.
A number of loud bangs were heard around 3.45pm local time near a shopping centre in the Näsby area, in the northern part of the city.
The shooting took place in Kristianstad[/caption]Rickard Lundqvist, a police spokesman, confirmed the incident was a shooting and cops were at the scene.
“Several people have been found in various places in the area with suspected gunshot wounds,” he said.
“We have criminal investigation measures in place and it is about questioning witnesses, cordoning off, securing and searching for clues.
“In parallel, we are looking for one or more perpetrators who have left the place. No one is currently detained.”
At least two areas have been cordoned off as suspected crime scenes, including the Gamlegadens shopping centre.
Once cops got to the scene, they found at least three people with gunshot wounds, who have been taken to hospital, svt.se reports.
They are two men in their 20s and 30s along with woman in her 60s and all have serious injuries, the local authorities have said.
Guards have been posted on the doors of the Central Hospital Kristianstad.
According to local media, a large police operation is underway with a helicopter circling above the crime scene.
Nasby is an area of high unemployment has been recently hit by riots and murders.
Shots were reported in the same area on Monday night, according to Expressen.
Kristianstad is a town of 40,000 in the south of the Sweden.
