A PLACE In The Sun host Laura Hamilton was shot down by a property-hunting couple as she urged them to be “realistic” about their desire for a holiday home in Fuerteventura.
The Channel 4 anchor was met with a stark “no” when she quizzed if there was any “wriggle room” on Simon and Sarah’s £200,000 budget.

“But I do need you to be realistic.”
Simon, who had recently retired, continued: “What we are talking about is our ideal property.
“We recognise that we would have to have compromises.
“And I am sure you will come up with the compromises then we will have to decide which ones we prefer and which we don’t.”
His wife then plainly said: “Laura, if it was easy, we would have found it ourselves and we wouldn’t have needed your help.”

They were craving a property in the centre of the holiday hotspot island, with potential beach views and one or two bedrooms.
Other ideas thrown into the mix were a garden and potentially a pool.
They had been visiting the sun spot for years, but were only in a position to buy when Simon had retired.
Laura was insistent that such facilities in the area “come at a price… and a premium price.”
The initial trio of properties didn’t prove the perfect match.
The pair then suggested they felt they were having to make too many compromises for their dream holiday home.
I made it clear from the start that you weren’t going to be able to have everything,”

Laura then commented: “I made it clear from the start that you weren’t going to be able to have everything.”
Simon replied: “We weren’t expecting that, we told you from the beginning that was our ideal. We are able to make compromises, but the compromises so far aren’t there for us to make.”
Yet their was a glimmer of hope with property four, which appeared to tick all the boxes.
Unfortunately the pair put in an offer of £190,000 which was not accepted.
