DEIDRE SAYS: NOW I’ve finally got a stable job, my girlfriend and I have agreed it’s the right time for us to start trying for a baby.
We have been together for two years and have been trying for a baby for the past eight months.
To begin with, I was really excited. I’ve always looked forward to being a dad.
But recently I’m starting to get a bit nervous that it’s not happening. She’s 30 and I’m 31.

DEIDRE SAYS: Women can usually conceive for two or three days in each menstrual cycle, so it is important to make sure you both know when this is likely to be.
Book an appointment with your doctor or family planning clinic to make sure you know when to maximise your chances.
Also, look after your health – both of you – including diet and sleep.
And try to keep your love-making fun and free of stress.
Tension in itself is known to be one of the most common causes of infertility. Good luck.
