Nearly 20 per cent of us say it’s the theatre we have missed most over the past year, according to a survey.
Even so, when the curtain does rise again, ticket prices can be off-putting, at an average of £28.
But I’ve got ways to cut that price dramatically.
SAVE NOW, LAUGH LATER: With so many shows cancelled last year, especially pantos, lots of theatres already have festive schedules sorted.
Check your local venues to see who is appearing.
For example, The Stag Theatre in Sevenoaks, Kent, has selected panto tickets for The Pirates Of Treasure Island at just £16 if you book now, rather than around £24 usually.
ENJOY A SHOW2: Customers of mobile network O2 can get discounted tickets.
The selection in May has sold out but I have had it confirmed that in June there will be another batch on offer.
The deal is great value, with a pair of tickets for £20 for top London shows such as Amélie The Musical at London’s Criterion Theatre or Everybody’s Talking About Jamie at the Apollo.

IT’S A DATE: Be flexible with your dates and you’ll be surprised what you can find. Dolly Parton’s wonderful 9 to 5: The Musical is touring and you can get tickets at the Palace Theatre Manchester for August performances for nearly half price at £13.
WORTH THE RISK: Take a chance on a new show and you can often get discounted tickets.
Fatal Attraction is touring the UK in 2022 and you can book tickets for Theatre Royal Glasgow for £13.
NH-YES! Many shows are offering healthcare workers discounts or free performances.
At the De Valence Pavilion in Tenby, West Wales, you can book an NHS Free Ticket performance by Arg from Towie in Jack And The Beanstalk on December 12, 20, 23 or 29.
WEST END WONDERS: If you are in London, todaytix.com has plenty of tickets for musicals, comedians and more available for this week onwards from £20.
And lovetheatre.com has tickets for new musical Pretty Woman from £17.10 and Horrible Histories for £19.50.
A DROP of the new Disaronno Velvet will be a nice way to end the weekend.
Get it at Sainsbury’s for £12, down from £15 until the end of the month.
