MÖTLEY Crüe and Def Leppard have made the difficult decision to postpone their The Stadium Tour until 2022 due to Covid restrictions.
The band sold over one million tickets raking in nine figures worth of revenue for the now-canceled tour.
Mötley Crüe took to their Instagram today to break the hard news, as they thanked their fans for “hanging in there” with them during the difficult time.
“To all our loyal fans, we wanted to let you know that we learned today that the tour is getting moved to 2022.
“This is the only way to ensure that we can play ALL of the dates for ALL of you who have purchased tickets,” they explained.
“We appreciate you hanging in there and can’t wait to get back on stage and bring The Stadium Tour to all of our fans.
“It is going to be one for the history books!”
The legendary heavy metal bands had originally planned their tour to run during summer of 2020, but were forced to postpone a year due to the raging pandemic.
The tour itself was to feature Mötley Crüe’s first live show in years, as fans flocked to buy tickets for the coveted event.
In January, Def Leppard guitarist Phil Collen revealed that the odds of the rescheduled tour happening were “50/50” depending on how the United States was handling the Covid crisis.
Crüe’s bassist Nikki Sixx gave more insight on the situation this past March, as he confessed the plans would not move forward unless the safety of the fans, crew, and bands would be assured.
The tour itself was slated to begin in June, and although vaccine distribution has amplified, very few states will be lifting all Covid restrictions until July.
Mötley Crüe is an American heavy metal group that was formed in 1981 by bassist Nikki Sixx, drummer Tommy Lee, lead guitarist Mick Mars and lead singer Vince Neil.
Tommy also founded the rap-metal band Methods of Mayhem, along with several other solo projects.
The drummer has an estimated net worth of $51.2million, after being in the band and touring for decades.
The musician married BayWatch star Pamela Anderson in 1995 after only knowing her for 96 hours.
