DEAR DEIDRE: AFTER eight blissful months together my boyfriend has dumped me because he feels he is bringing me down.
It is true he has been struggling with anxiety and depression.
I’ve tried everything possible to cheer him up but I couldn’t lift him out of his slump. I’m 20, he’s 22.
Eventually he said I was better off without him and ended it.
How do I make him see we just need to get through this together?

DEIDRE SAYS: Your ex-boyfriend may need help to deal with his anxiety and depression.
Ask him to see his doctor who will be able to help.
You can also recommend he has a look at Mind (mind.org.uk) which can help him with local services.
But I’m afraid if he insists he wants to end the relationship there is nothing you can do.
Both parties need to be invested to make any romance work.
As hard as it is you will need to accept his wishes.
I’m sending you my support pack Mending A Broken Heart to help.
