WORKERS staring at their faces on Zoom video calls are fuelling a surge in cosmetic surgery requests.
They are looking for “tweakments” after seeing themselves on camera.
It has led to a fivefold rise in demand for some procedures on last year, data specialist LaingBuisson reports.
Report author Liz Heath said video calls “triggered significant interest and demand for those wishing to ‘polish’ their appearance”.
She added: “The Covid crisis has put many of us ‘on camera’ regularly for the first time in our lives.”
Ashton Collins, of cosmetic surgery registrar Save Face, added: “Lockdown Face has become a thing.
“We were inundated with queries saying, ‘I’ve noticed my frown line is terrible, my lips need doing, or my nose is crooked’.
We told on Saturday how London’s deputy mayor Jules Pipe sparked disgust by eating ear wax on a video call.
The £3billion market for “tweakments” — smaller non-clinical procedures – has seen the largest growth in recent years.
Botox is still the most popular tweakment, making up around half of all procedures last year.
