THIS Morning viewers were left fuming at a Christmas tree on set two months early.
Phillip Schofield 58, and co-host Holly Willoughby, 39, opened the show by racing toy cars around the studio floor, stood in front of a beautifully decorated tree – despite it only being October.
Viewers were perplexed to see a tree complete with festive ornaments twinkling lights erected before we’ve even had Halloween.
A number of fans took to social media to rage before realising that it was just for a Christmas gift-giving segment.
One livid fan wrote: “Good morning, Oh no! Is that a Christmas tree I see on set?”
Another added: “Christmas tree? Not even been Halloween or Bonfire Night yet?”
A third person commented: “As if they have their Christmas tree on This Morning set.”
While a fourth fumed: “The f***ing Christmas tree is up.”
“I mean, I’m all for the Christmas shnizzle and enjoying the build up… but @thismorning can we just enjoy Halloween/Bonfire night first,” said a fifth viewer.”
But viewers had jumped to conclusions as the tree was merely up for a segment about toys to give this Christmas.
Later in the show, the tree was removed and replaced by ghoulish Halloween décor.
Holly and Phil were surrounded by pumpkins and seasonal Halloween toys, including a skeleton in place of the Christmas tree.
This is not the first time that viewers were left fuming this week – fans were livid when Phillip said he was “bored” after nearly hanging up on a Spin To Win caller on Wednesday.
The hosts introduced caller Lauren onto a chaotic segment of their game show.
Lauren managed to answer and give the special key phrase without too much trouble.
But the caller – who was ringing in from a nail salon – provoked a response from the presenters when she didn’t appear to celebrate her £750 prize as much as they’d like.
After the hosts have spun the wheel and the contestants are awarded their prize, they always get to answer a question in order to win some extra goodies.
However, before Holly got a chance to read out the question, Phil started wrapping up and hanging up the call – until he was corrected by Holly.
Looking a bit awkward, Phil then joked: “Sorry, I got bored.”
Many fans took issue with this and slammed the host for being “rude”.
One person said: “Philip is getting very rude with the callers #ThisMorning”
Another added: ““I was bored” bit rude #thismorning”
A third remarked: “When did Philip schofield become to rude to people that come on the show & sassy??? Saying goodbye too early because he “(got bored” #ThisMorning”
Other fans defended him, with one person saying: “Phillip isn’t impressed she’s getting her nails done and neither am I. bloody watch the show all time and someone like her wins and she’s not even watching ffs #ThisMorning”
