DEAR DEIDRE: SINCE coronavirus arrived I’ve been drinking a bottle of wine each night. I don’t know how to stop.
Before, I’d have a couple of glasses most evenings but now I often pass out on the sofa.
I have been drinking to cope during the Covid pandemic[/caption]My team and I are working safely from home but we are here to help you as always.

I’m a woman of 42. My partner is worried for me.
I’m afraid of Covid and reach for drink when the news comes on at 6pm.
I am OK in the day but dark thoughts creep in at night.
DEIDRE SAYS: You are not alone. Alcohol consumption has shot up in the past few months. The virus is frightening but life has always been full of risk.
Draw up a timetable. Check the news just once in the morning and schedule in exercise every day. Work out a firm plan to get past 6pm – no news, and maybe play a game with your partner to keep you busy.
Suggest neither of you drinks, except at weekends maybe. For more advice, see drinkaware.co.uk.
