FAMILY rebel Jill Duggar shocked her fans by mourning the death of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
The legendary Supreme Court Justice succumbed to metastatic pancreatic cancer on Friday evening and millions of people around the world shared their grief on social media.
Former Counting On star Jill Duggar shocked fans by paying tribute to Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg[/caption]One of those grieving was former Counting On star, Jill Duggar, who posted a tribute to Ginsburg – known affectionately as RBG – to her Instagram stories.
Jill, 29, shared a tweet from Republican senator John Boozman which read: “Sending my thoughts and prayers to the family of Justice Ginsburg.
The feminist icon lost her battled to pancreatic cancer [/caption]“She battled cancer as fiercely as she made and defended ideas in the public square during her long public service career. The nation is thankful for her contributions and sends our condolences to her loved ones.”
Jill finished off the Insta story, writing “R.I.P. R.B.G.,” alongside the prayer hands emoji.
RBG was known for her championing equality for all people and especially, women’s rights[/caption] Jill shared this tweet from Arkansas senator John Boozman[/caption] Her fans could not believe she would mourn a progressive feminist [/caption]The daughter of conservative Christians Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, Jill has seemingly again defied their strict rules by praising the progressive judge.
Her fans could not believe it, saying they were “genuinely surprised” to see her post.
People were shocked that a Duggar would praise RBG[/caption]Another Reddit user wrote: “Wait, holy s**t. This is a moment.”
And another added: “Never thought in our lifetimes we’d see a Duggar post about RBG!”
Many Reddit users agreed that the “rest of the Duggars either don’t know who RBG was, or they don’t like her since she fought for equality.”
Jill and her husband Derick Dillard have long rebelled against the family’s strict rules[/caption]This is certainly not the first time that Jill has broken her family’s rules after she created some distance from them.
She’s also consistently posting outfits that can be considered less than modest by her parents, such as gym shorts, strapless tops, and jeans.
The reality TV star has also pierced her nose and enrolled her eldest son in public school, which Israel loves so far.
Family patriarchs Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar have a long list of rules that include banning alcohol and wearing revealing clothing[/caption]Recently, she and Derick defied the rules by singing and dancing to show tunes after a movie night.
Just before their movie night, the married couple went out on a date night where fans spotted Jill enjoying an alcoholic cocktail.
Jill has often worn clothes her parents would not approve of[/caption]Jill previously admitted that her parents, Jim Bob and Michelle, “would not approve” of them drinking but assured fans that they “don’t drink past the point of drunkenness.”
After becoming somewhat of outcasts in the Duggar family because of the ways they differ from the rest of the clan, Jill said she and Derick have “grown a lot as a couple.”
The duo got married in 2014 after following her family’s courting rules, but then they started to slowly rebel from some of the rules that Jim Bob and Michelle taught.
Derick and Jill are parents to Israel, 5, and Sam, 3.[/caption]Then Derick is no longer welcome on the program after he was fired over transphobic remarks he made, while Jill exited to support him.
Jill said: “I’m okay with people not being okay with it. Sometimes it’s a good thing.”
She continued: “I’m very much a people pleaser, so not doing something because I was afraid of what other people would think. Or keeping my opinion quiet because I don’t want to have to worry about conflict.
“The journey that we’ve been on as a couple, we’re being better about having boundaries and our own family life.”
The couple have begun to come into their own and realize that their lives are their lives, which is why they’re “okay with letting people see more” pieces of their lives now.
Jill added: “Just being at a healthier place and realizing that it’s okay to be transparent, it’s been really good.”
