KEEPING Up With The Kardashians may be ending after 14 years, but it doesn’t mean the famous family are set to disappear from our small screens.
The family are reportedly looking to follow in the footsteps of Harry and Meghan and sign a lucrative deal with a streaming service, reports Page Six on Thursday.
Insiders expect the family to have a big streaming deal within a year, they told the publication — and a source close to the family said they’re even mulling starting “their own media company.”
They reported that they’re now more interested in signing a more lucrative streaming deal with one of the online giants such as Netflix, Apple or Amazon.
“There’s more money in streaming,” said a source. “And it’s global.”
E! had paid the family $150 million the last time they renewed their contract in 2017.
It comes after the lucrative deal made by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex with Netflix, which is thought to be worth $147million.
Meghan and Prince Harry “shopped themselves around” for a big-money TV deal before settling on Netflix, the firm’s boss Reed Hastings revealed.
The streaming giant’s co-CEO claimed the Sussexes offered themselves to “all major companies” before finding themselves the deal thought to be worth $147million.
Meanwhile, it was announced that KUWTK is coming to an end, on Tuesday.
One insider told Page Six that the family is interested in shifting away from their reality roots to work on a show similar to “Shark Tank,” by trading off their newfound reputations as entrepreneurs.
That said, another insider spilled that after 13 years on the air the family really are ready to take a break from the cameras.
“They’re open to all opportunities,” they report. “But they are taking some time off.”
Kim Kardashian confirmed the show was ending via Instagram, writing it is with “heavy hearts” that they made the “difficult decision as a family to say goodbye to Keeping Up with the Kardashians.”
She shared: “After what will be 14 years, 20 seasons, hundreds of episodes and numerous spin-off shows, we are beyond grateful to all of you who’ve watched us for all of these years – through the good times, the bad times, the happiness, the tears, and the many relationships and children. We’ll forever cherish the wonderful memories and countless people we’ve met along the way.
“Thank you to the thousands of individuals and businesses that have been a part of this experience and, most importantly, a very special thank you to Ryan Seacrest for believing in us, E! for being our partner, and our production team at Bunim/Murray, who’ve spent countless hours documenting our lives.
“Our last season will air early next year in 2021.”
