Something upset him a few months ago in lockdown. He went berserk and punched me. I slept in the shed that night. Next morning he didn’t mention it. I didn’t either.
Last night we rowed over the washing-up and he dragged me across the kitchen table. I was terrified.
DEIDRE SAYS: Please do not accept living in fear. Violence is never OK.
Did his attitude change once you were married and became “his”?
If it feels safe, tell him at a quiet moment you need couple counselling.
If that feels too scary, this relationship isn’t a safe one for you. Please contact Galop, which supports lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans people in abusive relationships (galop.org.uk, 0800 999 5428).
