LEWIS Capaldi has vowed not to return with new music this year – but fans will still be treated to some of his expert songwriting.
I can reveal he has penned the new single from Sigala and James Arthur, called Lasting Lover, which had been due to feature last year on his No1 smash debut album Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent.
He sent the song to top DJ Sigala – who has now produced the track to be a massive floor-filler, which is sung by James and will be out next Friday.
A music insider said: “Lewis is obviously known for his ballads but wrote this song ages ago and knew it wasn’t quite right for him so he wanted someone else to pump some life into it.
“He sent the demo to Sigala after hearing the DJ’s remix of his track Someone You Loved.
“He’s completely reinvented Lasting Lover as a dance track.
“Lewis is not singing on it, as he is working on his second album at the moment, but he gave his blessing for James to sing it.”
Yet Sigala might have a problem if he wants Lewis to ever perform the track with James, given the latter once blocked Lewis on Twitter.
But in October, James confessed: “Years ago he used to tweet me and it’s only now that I understand his sense of humour.
“It was certain things he said and so I blocked him. Scotland has a superstar now.”
Hopefully it’s all water under the bridge between the two of them.
