SPEEDBOAT killer Jack Shepherd has had almost three months cut from his jail term by an appeal court.
Judges heard the ex-web designer, 32, had already spent 78 days in custody awaiting extradition to Britain.
Speedboat killer Jack Shepherd, 32, had almost three months cut from his jail term yesterday for the manslaughter of tragic Charlotte Brown[/caption]This will be slashed from his six-year sentence for the manslaughter of Charlotte Brown, 24, on their first date. But her furious dad, 56, yesterday slammed the decision as an “absolute disgrace”.
Graham said: “The courts decided it’s OK to abscond. You can stick two fingers up at the justice system and there’s no consequence.”
Charlotte, of Clacton, Essex, drowned in the Thames after the booze-fuelled speedboat crash in December 2015.
Dad-of-one Shepherd, from Exeter, Devon, fled Britain ahead of his Old Bailey trial for a bolthole in Georgia.
After hiding for ten months he handed himself in and was jailed for three months while waiting to be extradited.
Shepherd was convicted in his absence after jurors heard he drank bottles of wine before the boat sank near London’s Wandsworth Bridge. When he returned in 2019 he was jailed for manslaughter by gross negligence.
Charlotte’s furious dad said the decision is an ‘absolute disgrace’[/caption]He is also serving a consecutive four-year sentence for bottling a squaddie in 2018.
The London Court of Appeal ruled his period in custody should count as time served.
Shepherd was not present to hear Lord Justice Fulford say: “We agree the application should be granted.”
