THE St James’s Palace Stakes is the fifth race on day five of Royal Ascot and we’ve got all the latest news, views and top tips ahead of this year’s renewal.
To get you in the mood for the Group 1 – here’s a run-down of the race.
The 2020 St James’s Palace Stakes will take place on Saturday, June 20 and will be live on ITV.
It’s a Group 1 Flat race run over a mile for three-year-old colts.
The St James’s Palace Stakes is a common target for horses who have contested the 2000 Guineas, with Galileo Gold the last horse to win both races in 2016.
The race is usually run on the Tuesday of Royal Ascot but has been moved this year.
Circus Maximus (10/1) battled on well to win. King Of Comedy (4/1) was a close second with the favourite Too Darn Hot (2/1f) in third.
Jockey Mick Kinane has won the race six times while champion trainer Aidan O’Brien has won it eight times.
O’Brien last saddled the winner in 2019 with Circus Maximus.
