DEAR DEIDRE: I’M learning Spanish through an app to impress a guy in Argentina I met on a dating app last week. But am I wasting my time?
I’m 17 and this guy is 19. We were chatting for hours at first, with both of us complimenting each other, speaking as if we’d met in person.
But now his responses are decreasing by the day. He barely talks, says little and is mostly offline.
I like this guy but do all these signs show he is not really interested? Am I expecting too much, being clingy or maybe the distance is a problem?
Should I just give him space or accept it is over?
My team and I are working safely from home but we are here to help you as always.

DEIDRE SAYS: I’m all for learning a new language but if you did it for his sake you are trying too hard and it is probably this that has put him off.
It is too much too soon.
Tell him you want to be friends but do not expect too much from his response.
