LEWIS Hamilton’s dog Coco died in his arms last night after having a heart attack at home.
The Formula One star is heartbroken after he tried to revive his six-year-old rescue dog after “her little heart gave in”.
Lewis reveals his beloved pup died at home at around 9pm on Thursday night “with the family by her side”.
The 35-year-old racing driver thinks it was a heart attack and tried desperately to revive her.
Taking to Instagram, he told his 16.8 million followers: “Last night at around 9pm, my beautiful little girl Coco died at home with the family by her side.
“Her little heart gave in, we think it was a heart attack.
“I tried to revive her but it was no use.”
Lewis took comfort in the fact that Coco “had the best day” and was “happier than I’d seen her in a long time” before her sudden death.
He continued: “She was such a special dog, born with so many problems and I feel so lucky to have adopted her.
“Her breeder said she was going to have to put her down as she wouldn’t be able to afford all the things she would need to survive, she went through a lot to become the bouncy, lazy loving dog she was.
“On her last day, we shared a special moment playing together which I will never forget.
“I will miss her snoring and how happy she was always to see me.
“She was only 6, healthy and happy.
“Naturally, my heart is broken but i hope she’s in a better place with my Aunty Diane. Wanted to share with you and thank those of you who loved her, cared for her.”
Lewis kept two British Bulldogs and while Hamilton jets around the world to race for Mercedes, his pet dogs Roscoe and Coco stayed in Los Angeles before accompanying him for downtime.
Earlier this year his other dog Roscoe stole hearts as he tried to walk in new shoes alongside the Formula 1 champ.
The British Bulldog was seen awkwardly edging across the floor in a clip shared by Hamilton on social media.
The Brit posted the clip with laughing emojis, writing: “Roscoe trying on new shoes.”
Roscoe has been by Hamilton‘s side for a number of years, often appearing with the Mercedes star on the paddock.
Along with Coco, he boasted 179,000 followers on his Instagram page and even models in professional doggy photo shoots.
