A 31-YEAR-OLD man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after allegedly speeding at a man with his car and hitting him overnight.
Met Police rushed to the scene in East London to find a man unconscious on the road.
Investigators now believe the 46-year-old victim had been on Hermit Road in Newham when a large black car sped at him just before midnight.
The car then sped off – with a 31-year-old man since arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
Detectives now believe it was a targeted attack.
Police Sergeant Simon Biggs, from the North East Command Unit, said: “Witnesses at the scene described seeing a large black vehicle, which was initially stationary, drive at the victim at speed before making off.
“A car has since been seized in connection with the investigation and will be forensically examined.
“At this time, we cannot be certain on motive, however we do not believe this was a random attack.
“Enquiries made overnight led to the arrest of a 31-year-old man on suspicion of attempted murder and he has been taken to an east London police station where he awaits questioning.”
The victim was taken to hospital after initially being treated by paramedics at the scene.
