CHAD Daybell, who is married to “cult mom” Lori Vallow, has been arrested in connection with the disappearance of her two children.
Here is more on the complicated criminal case that is linked to several mysterious deaths.
Chad Daybell was arrested on suspicion of concealing or destroying evidence after investigators found human remains at his Idaho home.
Two bodies were found, and the 51-year-old Daybell was booked into jail on Tuesday night.
It was the second time that his property in the town of Salem had been combed through.
“Throughout the investigation, detectives and investigators have recovered what’s believed to be human remains that have not been identified at this time,” said Rexburg Assistant Police Chief Gary Hagan.
Cops say the search was linked to the disappearance of Joshua “JJ” Vallow and Tylee Ryan.
Lori Vallow was arrested in Hawaii in February – five months after her children disappeared.
She was charged with child abandonment and obstructing the investigation and was later extradited to Idaho.
Vallow was arrested after failing to show proof of life for her children.
The 46-year-old Vallow and Daybell reportedly both believe themselves to be members of a “doomsday cult.”
Vallow also has an adult son Colby, who recently slammed her for not revealing the whereabouts of his siblings.
Joshua was seven and Tylee was 17 when they vanished in September.
Tylee was last seen headed into Yellowstone National Park with her mom and other relatives, and JJ was last seen by school officials several days later.
A search was launched after relatives raised concerns about the children.
Both Chad and Lori claimed the children were staying with friends, according to investigators.
The children still had not been located by JJ’s birthday in late May.
“Our feelings of extreme anguish and despondency were prevalent throughout the period approaching JJ’s 8th birthday,” grandparent Kay Woodcock wrote in a Facebook post.
“Our Rexburg family hosted a poignant vigil on Monday 5/25 in honor of our little man. … We are comforted knowing their commitment is as strong as ours.”
Larry and Kay Woodcock announced a $20,000 reward for information leading to the recovery of the kids.
Cops also issued a moving tribute on JJ’s birthday.
The grandparents later asked a judge to give them custody of JJ.
A close friend of Vallow’s said she believes the children are dead.
Charles Vallow was the estranged husband of Lori Vallow when he was fatally shot by her brother last year in Phoenix.
Alex Cox claimed he shot Vallow in self-defense.
Charles Vallow had filed for divorce from Lori, claiming she believed she had become a god-like figure who was responsible for ushering in the biblical end times.
He warned cops that Lori had threatened to kill him.
Cox, his alleged shooter, died in December of an apparent blood clot in his lung.
Tammy Daybell was married to Chad Daybell – until she died in her sleep in October.
Her obituary said she passed away from natural causes, but authorities became suspicious when Chad Daybell married Lori just two weeks later.
Tammy Daybell’s body was exhumed in December, but the results of the autopsy have not been released.
Investigators searched Chad Daybell’s home initially on January 3 in connection with his first wife’s death, removing more than 40 items.
Charles Vallow said in court documents before his death that Lori started to believe she was a “translated being” and “a god assigned to carry out the work of the 144,000 at Christ’s second coming in July 2020,” according to ABC 7.
Larry Woodcock told ABC’s Good Morning America in January that “I don’t know who that person is anymore.”
“Those children would be with her, and ever since she’s been involved in his doomsday cult, that is not the same Lori that we knew for 13 years, and the last year has been not understandable,” he said.
“We just don’t understand how any mother could walk away from her children for months now.”
A pal claimed that Vallow believed her missing son was a “zombie.”
