MELANIE C spent last summer on tour with the Spice Girls but what she really, really, really wants now is a job in front of a different kind of microphone.
Sporty Spice is set to follow in the footsteps of her bandmate, Heart FM host Emma Bunton, by becoming a radio presenter and is in talks with the Beeb about getting her own show.

She was approached by BBC bosses after broadcasting a DJ set from her home on Scott Mills’ Radio 1 show last week and is just as keen as they are to make it happen.
A source said: “Mel had a Zoom meeting with one of the BBC’s top brass shortly after her gig on Scott’s show because they saw so much potential in her.
“She not only has an incredible background in the industry, she’s got a wealth of music knowledge which bosses think the audience would lap up.
“Her celebrity pals — including her ex-bandmates Emma, Mel B, Geri Horner and Victoria Beckham — may also pop up on her show.

“On top of that, Mel is perfect for the job because she’s kind, likeable and has a cheeky edge listeners would love.
“She has done the occasional presenting job for Radio 2 in the past but they are looking at her getting a permanent slot.
“It’s early stages but Mel has said she’d be open to offers and would love to see if she could get on board.
“They need to work out where she would fit best.”

For me, getting a fresh face like Mel into the mix is exactly what the Beeb needs right now.
There is an obvious gap after Maya Jama walked away from her weekend Radio 1 show but in my opinion Mel is more suited to my favourite Radio 2.
Either way, signing her would be brilliant for the BBC — and with no more Spice Girls shows on the horizon, I’m sure she is ready to jump at the chance.
IF you aren’t yet convinced Miley Cyrus has ditched her twerk-worthy pop sound, you should be after her next collaboration.
She has surprisingly teamed up with Brit punk rocker Billy Idol, who at more than double her age is unlikely to be shaking his bum the way she famously did with Robin Thicke in 2013.
Miley Cyrus has teamed up with Brit punk rocker Billy Idol for Eighties-inspired rock tune Night Crawling[/caption]
In their Eighties-inspired rock tune Night Crawling, Miley sings: “Gotta listen when the devil’s calling.”
Other dark lyrics include: “Sometimes I’m good for nothing, sometimes the best you ever had. Sometimes I need your loving, sometimes I stab you in the back.”
The song is expected to feature on Miley’s upcoming seventh album She Is Miley Cyrus.
I told last month how she was going for a rock sound on the record, having also worked with Blink-182.
Miley joined Billy on stage in Las Vegas in 2016 to sing his 1983 song Rebel Yell[/caption]
But she recently revealed the project is on hold until the lock-down ends in the US.
Miley said: “It’s hard to feel appropriate releasing music at this time.”
Miley has performed with Billy, best known as the lead singer of 1970s punk band Generation X, a handful of times over the years, the first being in 2016, when she joined him on stage in Las Vegas to sing his 1983 song Rebel Yell.
There might be plenty more performances on the horizon if this number makes the album.
IN an unearthed clip Adele recorded in 2011 for Radio 2’s Tracks of My Years she says: “I really hope I get the opportunity to make quite a few albums, but I’d really like to be a career artist.”
JENNIFER Lopez has had to postpone her nuptials – so this outfit, with huge flares, is the closest she’ll get to a white wedding look for now.
She wore the get-up to promote the new series of her American TV talent show World Of Dance, on which she is a judge.

The US singer is isolating at home in Florida with her fiance, former baseball king Alex Rodriguez, who she had been due to wed this summer.
At least they have plenty of time to plan their big day.
THE 1975 frontman Matty Healy has revealed he has suffered a “couple of relapses” since going to rehab in 2017.
He said it hasn’t been an easy road, having got clean from using heroin, and he still gets furious if any of the fellow acts on The 1975’s record label Dirty Hit use hard drugs.

Matty, who had six weeks of therapy at a clinic in Barbados, said: “I’ve been all right since then but I have had a couple of relapses, and the main thing that really messes me up is the immaturity.
“Some of my younger artists . . . when you’re young it’s nice to have somebody to look up to and talk to, and I kind of fill this role, as a quite wise and knowledgeable friend.
“I’ve been there, and if any of them were doing smack, I’d be like, ‘You dirty little . . . ’ I’d have them by the ear.
“So it’s just inherent ridiculous hypocrisy.
“In regards to dealing with it, I’m just trying to grow up.”
JARVIS Cocker’s RIP to Pulp: “I felt the last concert tour (in 2012) went as well as it could have.
“But then I thought, ‘Well, that’s it’.
“I thought it was pretty much a perfect tour, really, and that was a good end to that.”
ARIANA Grande and Justin Bieber have had to defend themselves after being accused of buying their way to a US No1 single.
Their charity record Stuck With U topped the charts Stateside on Monday, but rapper 6ix9ine claimed 30,000 copies had been bought with just six credit cards, stopping his song Gooba getting to No1.

Ariana said they only had real sales and said 6ix9ine – on house arrest after he was jailed on charges relating to attempted murder and drug and gun offences – aimed to “dis-credit hardworking women”.
She wrote on Instagram “to anybody displeased with their placement on the chart this week”, saying: “You cannot discredit this as hard as you try.
“Be grateful you’re even here. That people want to listen to you at all.”
Ariana might soon have another No1 – her duet with Lady Gaga, Rain On Me, is out on Friday.
MADE In Chelsea’s Louise Thompson looks amazing in this photo shared on Instagram.

But alongside her bikini snap she wrote: “I also taught myself to believe that I look good regardless of social constructs . . . I’m no longer driven by pure vanity.”
Having loads of people tell you how great you look in the comments section probably helps, though.
CHARLI XCX ditched an entire new album to release quarantine collection How I’m Feeling Now.
She said: “I had been making a different album and . . . the songs were all written. It just needed production.”
ADELE’s body transformation grabbed the headlines but Take That’s Gary Barlow is here to remind everyone about his weight loss.
He posted this photo online wearing a jacket from 17 years ago when he was double the size.
Gary wrote: “Well this is a nice start to the day.
“I was just having a little clear out of a wardrobe and found this beauty circa 2003.”
It’ll fit me by the time lockdown ends . . .
