DEAR DEIDRE I LOVE my partner but don’t think I can take any more of her drinking. I feel torn in bits.
She’s the funniest, loveliest person I know when she’s not had a drink. She has been into rehab three times and each time she starts drinking again it’s a sword in my heart.

I needed a break from this mad rollercoaster we had been on for five years.
So in March she went to her parents’ and has been there since.
I’ve heard she’s drinking again and I’m relieved in a way that I don’t have to see her like that.
I’m 36 and she’s 34.
It’s dawned on me how much time we’ve lost to the booze.
I don’t know what to say to her about the future.
What if it tips her over the edge?
DEIDRE SAYS: You can’t put your own needs on hold indefinitely.
It’s time to think about what’s best for you.
Only she can decide to stop drinking – you can’t do it for her.
