SCHOOLGIRL Lauren Eve recorded herself singing Over The Rainbow to a video of 53 NHS workers’ faces — and aims to raise £1,000 from it for The Sun’s £1million Who Cares Wins appeal.
Lauren, 16, who will start a music course at college in September, got the idea after seeing people going outside near her home in Tameside, Gtr Manchester, on Thursday nights to applaud our brave carers.
She says: “I love Over The Rainbow and with all the rainbows people are putting in their windows, the song seemed to resonate with what we’re going through.”
She and her mum Lisa, 45, know all the NHS staff in the video and Lauren adds: “Mum put a shout out on her Facebook for anyone who wanted to be in it to send a picture of themselves.
“I pulled everything together and was able to post the video and start fundraising on Friday. Then when I heard about The Sun’s £1million fundraiser I decided to give the money to the Who Cares Wins appeal.
“If it helps raise money for such a vital cause at such a difficult time I will be delighted.”
BRITAIN’s four million NHS staff are on the frontline in the battle against coronavirus.
But while they are helping save lives, who is there to help them?
The Sun has launched an appeal to raise £1MILLION for NHS workers.
The Who Cares Wins Appeal aims to get vital support to staff in their hour of need.
We have teamed up with NHS Charities Together in their urgent Covid-19 Appeal to ensure the money gets to exactly who needs it.
The Sun is donating £50,000 and we would like YOU to help us raise a million pounds, to help THEM.
