Mum gloats after stingy ex gets stung by new self-employed coronavirus rules & others agree karma is a beautiful thing

A GLOATING mum has struck out at her stingy ex after his deceptive ways caused him to get stung by the new self-employed coronavirus rules. 

Taking to the online community Mumsnet, the woman couldn’t help but share her amusement after revealing the bloke falsified his annual earnings to get out of paying child support- which has now caused him to miss out on the government bonus.

Tickled by the situation, the mum explained that her ex earns about 45k a year working for his friend, but only declares earnings of 16k and gets paid the rest in cash so that he can pay a lesser amount for child maintenance.

Since the courts ordered zero contact between the father and the their son, the mum explained that the amount he’d have to pay would be fairly high if he declared his full earnings.

The new government grant allows all self-employed workers to be paid up to 80% of profits lost as a result of the coronoavirus based on their earnings, meaning the bloke’s omission has caused him to be paid based only on the declared amount of £16 instead of the accurate amount, which has left him “going mental”.

But rather than sympathising with the father who’d wronged her, she insisted that the news had “cheered her up in isolation”.

In the full post she wrote: “He works for his friend and earns about 45k a year. He fiddles his earnings down to 16k a year and his friend pays him the rest in cash so he has to pay less child maintenance (he has 0 access so this would be fairly high should he declare his full earnings).

“He is a safeguarding risk to our son and court ordered 0 contact, and I have a lifelong restraining order, so IMHO he deserves no sympathy.

“He’s just been on the phone to this family member who described him as ‘going mental’ that he’s only going to be paid 80% of what he’s declared by the government.

“Apparently it’s all my fault as if he didn’t have to pay me child maintenance he wouldn’t have to have fiddled the books in the first place

Her post was met with comments from like-minded mums who shared her amusement by the situation – and to be honest, we thought it was great, too.

Many spoke of “karma being a beautiful thing”, despite the situation being less than fortunate for the estranged ex-husband.

One user wrote: “That really made me smile. Thanks for posting. I love it when people like this get bitten on the a**e and the beauty is that it is all his own fault.”

And another said: “Ahh I’m glad for that! A little silver lining after all .”

Meanwhile, a third wrote: “Wonderful. By far the best thing to come out of this situation.”

This news comes after Chancellor Rishi Sunak recently announced that all self-employed workers will be entitled to grants to cover disruption to their business caused by the coronavirus outbreak – but the bailout cash won’t be available for them until June.

Many workers, including hairdressers, chefs, taxi drivers and childcare providers have either lost their entire income or seen it dramatically reduced since the start of the outbreak, but can now revive grants of up to 80 per cent of profits lost.

The grants being made available will be calculated by looking at average monthly profits from the last three years of up to £2,500 a month.

But it will only be available to available to people who’s the majority of their income comes from self-employment and they must have been working for themselves for the past two years in a bid to cut back on fraudulent claims.
