POWER finally revealed who shot James ‘Ghost’ St Patrick in its finale episode earlier this month.
Fans of the Starz crime thriller learned that Ghost, played by Omari, was shot by his own son Tariq (Michael Rainey Jr) in his nightclub Truth.
Tasha (Naturi Naughton) – the mother of Tariq and ex-wife of Ghost – was the one who took the fall though, allowing herself to be incarcerated so Tariq could go free.
In clips from the show, we see Ghost appear to bleed out in best friend Tommy Egan’s (Joseph Sikora) arms, urging him to let Tariq live with his last words.
However, a new fan theory calls the entire murder into question, suggesting that Ghost never died and instead made a hasty escape in an ambulance.
Super fan Alejandro Gonzales took to YouTube to explain the conspiracy, claiming that Ghost had faked his own death in order to make a fresh start.
He cited the fact that none of Ghost’s blood splattered onto Tariq and also pointed out that since the gun belonged to Ghost, he could’ve rigged it with fake bullets.
Meanwhile the sight of an ambulance shortly after the shooting fuelled the idea that he made a getaway.
“After replacing Tariq’s gun, James got his hands on one of Tommy’s ambulance truck,” Alejandro began.
“He (Ghost) contacted the same associate who helped him execute Jason’s (Mike Dopud) murder and told him to wait in the parking lot until his plan was completed,” he went on.
“Tariq literally just came back from shooting Ghost, why is there an ambulance already leaving?!
“An ambulance should’ve been arriving at the scene, not leaving it. Ghost knew this was the only way he could escape the ‘crime scene.’”
Many fans soon took to the comments section with messages of agreement and praise.
In response, one fan wrote: “This theory would also explain why Ghost told Tommy to ‘let him go’. So that the rest of the plan could unfold. Wonder what else was in Tommy’s envelope?”
A second chimed in: “Bro, if this is how it really plays out… you are a GENIUS! All of this makes sense though!”
While a third weighed in: “Bro, you need to write screenplays, seriously!!! Even if this isn’t how they do it. You got it! SALUTE!”
And a fourth replied: “Damn I thought Ghost was dead but after watching this I’ve changed my mind. Baby, they need to scoop you up and put you on the payroll because I believe this version.”
The furore comes after show boss Courtney Kemp explained why Angela Valdes never appeared in finale after being shot by Tommy.
Power is available to stream on Netflix now.
