ON Saturday night in Las Vegas, it’ll all come down to who prepared better when Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder lock horns in the ring.
After months of posturing, the heavyweight pair will finally reunite their rivalry at MGM Grand Garden Arena in the sporting event of the year – and for Fury this is serious business.
Aside from working hard in the gym, the Gypsy King has added some bizarre training methods to his routine.
SunSport rounds up what Fury has done to prepare for this fight… it would leave a mere mortal exhausted.
Here’s a novel way of keeping your testosterone levels up.
In the run-up to his battle with Wilder, Fury has revealed he’s been relieving himself seven times a day.
He made the bold claim in a press conference last month.
“I’m masturbating seven times a day to keep my testosterone pumping,” he revealed before launching into the lyrics of Danzel’s dance classic Pump it Up.
“Pump it, pump it, pump it, pump it up! Dontcha know!
“I gotta to keep active and the testosterone flowing for the fight. Don’t want the levels to go down.” As you do.
A well-balanced diet is crucial to a boxer’s prep as they build up their weight and muscle mass.
Fury is eating like a fiend, eating and drinking more than he’s ever done previously.
He revealed: “I’m eating five/six meals a day, drinking eight litres of water. If it’s gonna give me an edge, I’m willing to try it.”
As we told you, he’s also been feasting on curry daily, as one of his two dinners.
We’re not sure if this has credence or not, but what we know with Fury is he’s brutally honest.
At another pre-fight press conference, a journalist asked Tyson if he had confidence in his chin after being knocked down by Wilder twice in their first fight.
The response was comedy gold, although you imagine he was being serious.
“I have got confidence in my chin but I’ve been doing a lot of p***y licking to strengthen my jaw up,” Fury said matter-of-factly.
Born a gypsy, Fury will always turn to Romani mythology to give him an edge, however this just sounds bonkers.
After speaking with gypsy boxer Joe Joyce, Fury was given a tip on how to strengthen his hands.
Fury said: “I was speaking to an old legendary bare-knuckle fighter from the travelling community, he’s called Big Joe Joyce.
“He told me about dipping his hands in petrol, to toughen them up.
“So for this fight I’ll be dipping my hands in petrol for five minutes a day during the last three or four weeks of the training camp to really toughen them up.
“It worked for him, so I’m going to give it a try.”
Alongside nutritionist George Lockhart, who prepares meals for Conor McGregor, there’s new trainer Javan Sugar Hill Steward, who replaces Ben Davison.
But the most interesting addition to Fury’s team is of legendary cutman, Jacob ‘Stitch’ Duran.
Mexican ‘Stitch’ will be ring side when the bell sounds to make sure the cut he received in his previous fight to Otto Wallin that required 47 stitches doesn’t re-open.
Every fighter needs a reward, and Fury is no exception.
After months of strict training, the Morecambe-based boxer wants to be let loose in Las Vegas when (not if) he is victorious against Wilder.
He has claimed he will celebrate his win with “cocaine and hookers”.
Speaking to Daily Caller, he said: “After this fight I’m going to binge on cocaine and hookers.
“Is there anything better than cocaine and hookers?
“I go to the cheap $30 ones. Always give yourself a shot of penicillin before s****ing them.”
