AS Ru Paul says, “If you can’t you love yourself how the hell you gonna love somebody else?” and if you’re self-partnering or staying single this Valentine’s Day why not treat yourself.
So calling all single ladies, here is a range of affordable gorgeous rings to gift yourself this Valentine’s Day.
But before I hear you cry, that’s not news? Argos is reporting that 67 per cent of these shoppers are women.
The high street favourite has seen an increase in women’s ring sales in the run up to Valentine’s Day.
More women are ‘self-partnering’, after Harry Potter actress Emma Watson coined the phrase last year describing how she is content with her own company.
With less societal pressure to settle down, and more content to be single, more women are celebrating this by treating themselves.
Some 33 per cent of women say they don’t think people need to settle down or have a lifelong partner, compared to 20 per cent of men, while 30 per cent of Brits believe Valentine’s Day is outdated as a tradition.
The age most of us believe we should settle down too is surprisingly young, at just 27 years and 9 months, with 3 per cent thinking you should wait until you over 40.
Argos jewellery buyer Claire Fountain said: “This Valentine’s Day, you don’t need to wait for someone to buy you the ring you want. The likes of Emma Watson, Selena Gomez and Lizzo have all come out in favour of being happily single, which could be spurring on the trend of buying yourself a ring as a symbol of being self-partnered.”
So if you’re going to treat yourself this Valentine’s Day, or are cementing your self-partnered status, these are the best rings for you, and you only.
