PRESENTING duo Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly have confirmed they have started work on the new series of Saturday Night Takeaway which will be back for 2020.
After a hiatus in 2019 following Ant having to pull out of work commitments over a drink-drive conviction, the popular show will be back on the telly at the end of February.
Ant and Dec have revealed that Saturday Night Takeaway will be back on ITV for a 16th series.
An exact date for the show’s return is yet to be confirmed, but it’s likely the new series will start in late February, 2020, in the primetime evening slot.
The lads have released a trailer for the upcoming shows – teasing fun and laughter as they promise the “best ever” series.
According to the Mirror, the pair signed a £40million deal to stay on ITV for the next three years and bring the show back.
Speaking about it’s return last year, Ant, 44, said: “You know we love working with ITV, they have been great supporters of us, so it will happen.
“We can’t wait for Takeaway to come back, we have really missed making it. We are already doing stuff for it at the moment so with that and Britain’s Got Talent we are very busy.”
The popular show was taken off air for one week in March 2018 when Ant was involved in a car accident – forcing Dec to present the rest of the series on his own.
It was then axed in 2019 while Ant focused on his health, stepping away from his TV commitments.
Ant took 10 months off work after he was fined £86,000 and given a 20 month driving ban following a drink-drive crash and admitted he was battling a prescription drug and drink problem.
After focusing on his recovery, Ant made his TV comeback last year for the 2019 series of Britain’s Got Talent.
It looks like all the old favourites will return for the new series, including Win The Ads, Best Seats In The House and Ant vs Dec.
Expect a long list of celebrity guests, spoof spin-off dramas and plenty of bizarre and entertaining challenges.
The programme has a variety of different segments, some that are pre-recorded and others live in front of a studio audience.
You can apply to be on the new series or nominate someone for a surprise/embarrassment of a lifetime.
Applications are open until Friday April 3, 2020.
