MURDERED teen Keane Mulready-Woods called his mum to say he’d be home late hours before he was decapitated in a savage gang execution.
The 17-year-old called after 6pm last Sunday to ask for money to be left on the family’s mantelpiece in Drogheda, a town north of Dublin, to pay for taxi fare.
Keane was on a court-ordered curfew which meant he had to be home before dark, the Irish Independent reports.
His family said he was observing the rules at the time – but tragically he never returned.
The teen was last spotted on a bridge in Drogheda town centre at around 6pm, shortly before he made the phone call to his mum.
It later emerged that Keane was the victim of a gruesome gangland hit when his severed head was found in a blazing Volvo hatchback in Drumcondra, Dublin.
Two days earlier his severed limbs had been found in a Puma sports bag thrown out of a moving car around five miles away in Coolock, in the Irish capital.
It is understood his fingers were cut off by suspected gang members to avoid detection through DNA under their victim’s nails.
Police believe he was abducted and taken to a nearby home, where he was tortured and murdered before his body was driven around 30 miles and brutally disposed of.
Detectives think Keane was savagely murdered as part of a drugs war between crews based in Drogheda, a town north of Dublin.
He was alleged to have been recruited by a Drogheda drugs gangs and had various brushes with the law after being accused of pointing a gun at a shop manager, criminal damage and threatening a family.
Keane was also suspected of being involved in a petrol bomb attack on a car in a local council estate.
Police are now hunting a “psychopathic” murderer, with their main suspect alleged to be a 35-year-old hitman from North Dublin who officers describe as a “psychopath” and a “serial killer”.
A gruesome video has been circulating social media with many believing it was Keane’s murder, but gardai have confirmed it is fake.
Chief Superintendent Christy Mangan said Keane’s family were distressed by the pictures and video and asked people not to share it online.
Keane may have been targeted in revenge for the gangland hit of Richie Carberry in November 2019.
Carberry, 39, was gunned down outside his home in Bettystown, County Meath.
Cops think Keane was attacked due to his links to some of the gangster’s killers.
A source told The Irish Sun: “There is a lot of paranoia out there and because he [Keane] was working for both sides, he would have been an easy target.
“Associates for Carberry were baying for blood and they wanted someone to pay with their life.”
Gardai believe Keane was lured to his death after he was due to meet pals on Sunday.
Another source said: “We are dealing with young people who have got involved in something way over their heads and can see no way out.
There is a lot of paranoia out there and because he [Keane] was working for both sides, he would have been an easy target.

“People should pick up the phone and tell gardai what they know because this type of violence only leads to further barbaric acts.”
Police have described as the killing as “brutal and savage”.
Chief Supt Mangan said: “There are a number of groups basically interested in controlling certain parts of society through cocaine.
“They want to finance their own lifestyles through drugs and intimidation. We’re not going to allow that to happen.
“This is a brutal and savage attack on a child and is completely unacceptable in any normal democratic society. The level of violence is shocking.”
It comes as it is revealed that a senior cop met with an Irish gangland boss last year in a desperate bid to stop the Drogheda feud spiralling out of control.
Gardai pled with Owen Maguire, who was paralysed by a botched hit in 2018, to end the bloodshed.
But his associates — who include the Mr Big behind the murder of Real IRA boss Alan Ryan — ignored the officer’s pleas made during the private meeting.
And following the informal chat, Gardai also received intelligence that the feud would not be over until THREE major enemies of Maguire’s connections were dead.
A senior officer met with Maguire and asked him to help end the feud before it spiralled out of control. It was a genuine attempt to end a dispute which was destroying lives in Drogheda.

They include the psychotic killer of Keane Mulready-Woods, the gunman who tried to kill Maguire when he was blasted six times in July 2018, and another hood who’s been linked to a number of murder bids on his associates.
The meeting was held shortly before Maguire’s associates shot dead Keith Brannigan on August 27, last year, in Clogherhead, Co Louth.
Just three months later, his associates also murdered Richard Carberry.

“Maguire didn’t say much in the exchange and because he wasn’t under arrest, anything he may have said could not have been used in any future court proceedings.
“The officer had an obligation to do everything to help end the dispute, but his request was completely ignored by Maguire’s associates.
“Maguire is sitting at home and will never walk again and he’s obsessed with the fact he’s in a wheelchair. He has nothing else to think about.”
