THE Voice fans have been treated to a first look at the upcoming 2020 series with a rip-roaring performance from the coaching line-up.
US singer Meghan Trainor, who has replaced Jennifer Hudson, performs Kiki Dee’s I Got The Music In Me alongside seasoned stars Olly Murs, Sir Tom Jones and will.i.am.
Putting her insecurity over joining the series to one side, she walks on stage and looks ready for battle in a black body suit.
Flanked by dancers dressed in white hot pants, Meghan unleashes her powerhouse vocals and harmonises with Welsh legend Sir Tom as confetti pours onto the stage.
The All About That Base singer boasts of having one of the biggest selling singles of all time, but previously revealed about signing up to the show: “A lot of times, I get hard on myself and I get insecure.
“I’m like, ‘I’m a baby here and I haven’t accomplished anything they have’.”
It was announced in September that she would be joining the ITV reality show, and she’s already shaken things up, saying there will be “tears and tantrums” in the new series.
She also admitted to “hating herself” when she doesn’t turn for contestants as she opened up about her experience on the show.
“It’s always been a dream of mine to be on a show like this so I felt like a kid at Christmas,” she said.
“I knew it would be a fun time and a lot of hours and I’d fall in love with these people but I didn’t realise it would be this fun, like last week I left and I teared up as I was leaving.”
Her dream gig isn’t without its down sides, with the star going on to add: “It’s horrible in the moment to not press a button and to hear the crowds disappointment and to hear them walk off, like we can hear footsteps.
“But we don’t hear the stories, so watching it back with the stories we are just kicking ourselves more, it’s like: ‘Oh, I hate myself’.”
And that’s not the only time that the series gets emotional, with Meghan revealing that all of the judges but Sir Tom Jones have a good sob.
She told us: “I cry once, Olly cries – Olly’s got a good cry coming up.
“All of us cry except for Tom, all of us cry at one point – even Will.”
The Voice UK returns on Saturday 4th January 2020 on ITV
