WE’RE not saying that the last few years have been all about lady bits, but from sheet masks for your vagina to books about periods, it all seems a little bit less taboo than it used to be.
Which might be why it’s not that much of a surprise to see a “pleasure enhancing oil” pop up on the shelves of Superdrug.
Mum-of-three Emma Longden gave Superdrug’s £9.99 bliss arousal oil a test run[/caption] It contains CBD and aloe vera – and made her orgasms stronger and longer[/caption]Made by a company called Woowoo, who say it’s an “all natural range of fun and fearless ‘care down there’ products designed to add a bit of va-va-voom to the feminine care aisle”, this oil promises to “heighten pleasure and provide a natural moisture boost.”
It definitely ticks all the trend boxes in health and beauty right now, as it contains the wonder ingredient CBD oil, which is popping up everywhere, from drinks that promise to relax you to creams that promise to soothe the skin, but can it really “heighten and stimulate sexual pleasure” as the manufacturers suggest?
Of course it’s not just CBD oil, you’ll also find geranium, hemp and aloe vera in there, along with a few other oils that give it the “exotic and beautiful fragrance”. At £9.99 for a 30ml dropper bottle, if it works, it could be an inexpensive way to turn your bedroom activity from “meh” to “oh, moooooooooore” but is it worth it?
To find out, we asked Emma Longden, 30, from Bournemouth to give it a whirl. Emma works part time for a charity and also has her own lifestyle blog. She is married to Ed, 39, a teacher. The couple have three children, aged nine, seven and three.
Emma says her libido has been flagging since she went on antidepressants a year ago [/caption]Emma says:
I’ve been on anti-depressants for about a year and it has had an effect on my libido — mind you, having three children doesn’t help!
I’ve found it harder to get into the mood and it takes a little longer for me to get to orgasm than it did before and so when I heard about this oil, I was definitely keen to try it to see if it could help.
Ed is pretty open minded, and up for trying new things, so he’s happy to give anything a go if it might help me feel better in the bedroom.
She says she and husband Ed will continue using it[/caption] The product is made by Woowoo[/caption]My first impression was that although it was colourless, the oil had a very strong fragrance that I wasn’t that happy about it. It wasn’t unpleasant — in fact my husband really likes it — but it reminded me of essential oils
I couldn’t see any instructions so I just assumed you applied it directly to the area. I was slightly concerned that if that wasn’t the case I was going to burn myself, or something terrible, but fortunately it was fine!
To put it through its paces, I tried it both on my own, and with my husband, and I used it at the beginning just like you’d use a lubricant.
It didn’t feel any different at first, and I don’t think it had an affect on my levels of arousal, as it took me about the same amount of time to come to orgasm, but my orgasms were stronger and longer when they did happen.
This can only be good news for our sex life, as having better orgasms will give me even more of an incentive to have sex.
As you can imagine, my husband is delighted. He always wants to please me in bed and so he’s found it difficult to get enjoyment when my libido has been affected. The fact that he could see how much pleasure I was getting turned him on — so it’s a win-win. I think we’ll definitely carry on using it!
We previously tested the £17 vagina sheet mask – here’s what we thought.
