A BEAUTIFUL young couple has been mercilessly gunned down by the 25-year-old bride’s deranged father as they partied together on New Year’s Eve.
The ‘angel’ Melbourne couple, Lindita and Veton Musai, were hosting family at their home at 10.30am on new year’s eve when her estranged ‘devil’ father ambushed them from a bush.
He blasted his own daughter and her 29-year-old husband at their doorstep in front of other family members.
The 55-year-old monster, Osman Shaptafaj, from Altona North then reportedly put the gun to his chin and pulled the trigger. He is the only survivor and is currently under police guard in hospital.
Mrs Musai died at the scene, her husband died in hospital on New Year’s Day.
The couple had celebrated their first wedding anniversary just two days before the attack.
Veton’s cousin Jetmir Lumani posted on Facebook: “Today we lost my beautiful baby cousin Veton Musai and his angel wife Lindita Musai….. I can’t even begin to explain how I feel.
“How a father can take his own daughters (sic) life is beyond comprehension.. but the devil truly is among us.”
Lindita died at the scene and Veton has since passed away in hospital.
Witness Lewis Thorne told Nine News: “This guy just jumped out of the bush into my peripheral vision, and then he put a gun to his chin and pulled it.
“He got up somehow after that and then about two or three minutes later, he did the same thing again to himself.
“I didn’t know the couple but they recently had a wedding, about six months ago.”
Police probing the shooting later found a gun on public land at the end of Salisbury St, close to the couple’s home.
The Yarraville and Albanian communities have been rocked.
Lindita’s friend told The Age: “She would always be smiling, always caring for others. She would always dance to Michael Jackson and just make everything fun.”
“[Veton] was just the funniest guy I’ve ever met in my life. He’s always put a smile on my face.”
In footage captured by Nine News, visibly distraught relatives and neighbours of the couple could be seen comforting each other as emergency services dealt with the incident.
Police say they are not looking for any other offenders.
