EAMONN Holmes revealed today he wants to stuff his dog Maggie when she dies – to wife Ruth Langsford’s horror.
This star said he wants their four legged friend to “live on” and has “every intention” to have her packed with cotton and freeze dried.
The presenting duo had been discussing bizarre Christmas presents when squeamish Ruth revealed her horror over a taxidermy bird, called Woody, that had been given to a viewer from her husband.
She said: “Stuffed. I couldn’t think of anything more horrible to be given on Christmas Day. I have to say Victoria. But you like it.”
And Eamonn said: “Woody lives on. And you know, well you’re reading my mind. Has anyone had their dog stuffed? I would like to know because it’s my intention.”
Shaking her head, Ruth flat out replied: “No. You are not having our dog stuffed. Don’t you even think about doing that to our dog.”
Eamonn and Ruth adopted Border Collie cross Maggie in 2011.
She suffered a dislocated shoulder in October, with Eamonn paying tribute to his pet pooch on Instagram.
He said: “Honestly Mags , I don’t want to be here either. Waiting in the Vets Hospital. Looks like a dislocated shoulder. Poor Mags.”
In April, Eamonn shared a photo with Maggie in honour of National Pet Day, saying she had made him a better person. “8 years ago this little darling came into my life and made me a better person.
“She was a rescue dog and I couldn’t understand why someone would not have cared for her before we came along.”
Fellow dog lovers shared messages of support, with one saying: “Poor Mags!! Hope she is feeling better.”
Another added: “Poor Maggie wishing you a speedy recovery.”
