CHELSEA Embankment has been closed after an unexploded World War Two 2 bomb was found on a building site.
The street was cordoned off between Chelsea Bridge and Royal Hospital Road after the device was discovered this morning.
Emergency services are at the scene as congestion also stretches to Chelsea Bridge, Chelsea Bridge Road, Albert Bridge and Battersea Bridge.
A Met Police spokesman said: “Police were called at 9.30 am to a construction site on Chelsea Embankment close to Bull Ring Gate following the discovery of what is believed to be World War Two ordnance.
“Emergency services are in attendance.
“A cordon has been put in place and a number of surrounding roads have been closed to traffic.”
