A BOY killed while riding a bike near his home was pictured for the first time today.
“Beautiful” Harley Jackson, 11, died after being hit by a car on Saturday afternoon as he played in Ansley Common, near Nuneaton, Warwickshire.
The schoolboy’s heartbroken mum cried “my beautiful boy” as hundreds gathered for a vigil to remember the football-mad youngster last night.
Little Harley was pictured for the first time as the community was left reeling by his tragic death.
A friend told how the little boy’s family including parents Richard and Michaela were left devastated.
The pal told The Sun Online: “Michaela got out of the car and started to walk, but then she just burst into tears.
“She was screaming and crying so hard. She kept saying: ‘My boy. My beautiful boy’.
“Everyone then started crying. The whole community has just been broken by this.
“She is just absolutely devastated.”
More than 200 people gathered on Sunday night to pay tribute to Harley, remembering him as a “brilliant kid”.
The friend said: “He was so active and loved being out on his bike. He loved football too.
“His best friend lived across the road and I will always remember how they tied cans to a piece of string to talk to each other.
“Everyone around here just thought the absolute world of him.”
Mum Michaela yesterday took to social media to pay tribute to Harley, saying: “We are absolutely broken.
“How can life carry on without our beautiful baby boy.
“Harley had so many different sets of friends don’t know how to reach out to them all but please spread the word light up the park for our beautiful boy.”
She later shared a photograph of her son’s name spelled out in candles.
Dozens of friends shared blue hearts on Facebook, while others have lit candles in his memory.
Harley had just started at Hartshill School in September, with Head of year Lorraine Brown saying: “He was a happy young boy who loved school and was always the first to volunteer for extra jobs or opportunities.”
A spokesperson for Warwickshire Police said: “This is a tragic incident and we’re appealing to anyone who may have witnessed what happened or was passing with dash cameras in this location to please contact us.
“Our thoughts are with the boy’s family at this time.”
