CENTER Parcs are stopping transgender women using female changing facilities unless they have gone through a full transition.
The holiday resort company says they must use male facilities or private changing rooms.
It is thought to be one of the first large British businesses to take such a stand — but was accused of discrimination by trans campaign groups.
However, it comes days after Marks & Spencer was hit by a backlash for saying it would let customers use whatever fitting room they felt most comfortable in.
Center Parcs’ ban came to light when it was contacted by a customer planning to visit its Whinfell Forest resort in Cumbria.
Victoria Hodges, who started hormone therapy last year, was told transgender guests could use the changing rooms matching “their acquired gender”.
But the company went on: “If they are still in the transition period, we would ask that they use the private changing facilities.”
Stunned Victoria said: “I’ll probably still go and hope they don’t discriminate. However, if they do, I reserve the right to follow up with legal action.”
Center Parcs, which runs six resorts in Britain and Ireland, said its response “was in line with the Equality Act” and proportionate to the needs of all its guests.
