DAVID LUIZ has revealed a disagreement with Frank Lampard led to his Chelsea exit.
In one of the more surprising transfers of the summer, Luiz moved across London to sign for Arsenal for £8m.
The Brazilian said at the time that he “didn’t think twice” about signing for Unai Emery.
And now he has revealed what prompted him to switch clubs.
In an interview with The Telegraph, Luiz said: “Me and Lampard, we had honest conversations. Man to man, me and him.
“His ideas of football were different to mine. We just agreed: “OK, we move on”. In an honest way, in a mature way.
“We played together, we won together. We won the Champions League, the Europa League, everything together.
“It was done in a mature way.”
Luiz played 248 times for the Blues across two spells that saw him win the Premier League title, two FA Cups, one Champions League and two Europa League crowns.
He has featured in seven out of Arsenal’s eight Premier League games, but has come under fire from fans and pundits after giving away two penalties.
Arsenal travel to Bramall Lane tonight (Monday), looking to continue their good start to the Premier League campaign.
After eight games, the Gunners sit in third – just a point behind reigning champions Manchester City – and now look to inflict a fourth defeat on newly-promoted Sheffield United.
Arsenal will be hoping to have Alexandre Lacazette back for the clash in Sheffield, while Kieran Tierney, Hector Bellerin and Rob Holding are all in contention to start.
Emile Smith-Rowe is still a doubt after suffering a concussion against Eintracht Frankfurt while Reiss Nelson has a knee problem.
Meanwhile, the Blades could be missing David McGoldrick and Oliver McBurnie when they face the Gunners.
The Sun exclusively revealed that McBurnie has been charged with drink driving after a night out.
