In comments made after a revealing documentary aired on Sunday, they said the couple were perceived to be “in a fragile place”,

The Sun Online has contacted Kensington Palace for a comment.

‘GOOD DAYS, BAD DAYS’

In the ITV docu, Harry appeared to publicly admit the brothers have grown apart, saying: “We’re certainly on different paths.”

He added: “As brothers, you have good days, you have bad days.”

Harry admitted that the pressure on the royals means “inevitably stuff happens”.

But he insisted they were still close, saying: “But look, we’re brothers, we’ll always be brothers — and we’re certainly on different paths at the moment.

“But I’ll certainly always be there for him as I know he’ll always be there for me.

“We don’t see each other as much as we used to because we’re so busy.

“But I love him dearly and the majority of the stuff is created out of nothing. But as brothers, you have good days, you have bad days.”

Harry and Meghan were interviewed by ITV’s Tom Bradby for a documentary about their recent ten-day tour of Africa with son Archie.

During Harry & Meghan: An African Journey, the Duke and Duchess both spoke of the difficulties of life in the spotlight.

Meghan told how she tried to adopt the Royal Family’s stiff upper lip — but found it “really damaging”.

The Duchess of Sussex said her attempt to ignore the media spotlight in the traditional royal manner only caused more unhappiness.

She said she had told Prince Harry it was the wrong approach to take.

Meghan added: “You know, I’ve said for a long time to H — that’s what I call him — it’s not enough just to surf by something. That’s not the point of life.

“You’ve got to thrive, you’ve got to feel happy. And I think I really tried to adopt the British sensibility of a stiff upper lip.

“I’ve tried but I think that what that does internally is probably really damaging.

“I never thought this would be easy. But I thought it would be fair and that’s the part that’s really hard to reconcile.

“But I do just take each day as it comes.”

Adopting the stiff upper lip is really damaging.

Meghan Markle

Royal insiders expressed surprise at Meghan’s criticism of British aristocratic tradition.

One aide said: “The Queen’s sense of duty and calm in a crisis is the very epitome of the stiff upper lip.”

Meghan said she accepted that her behaviour would always be scrutinised — but said the negative comments about her were unfair.

She said: “If things are fair, that completely tracks with me. If I do something wrong I’m the first one to go, ‘Oh my gosh, I’m so sorry. I will never do that.’

“But when people are saying things that are just untrue and they’re being told they’re untrue but they’re allowed to still say them, I don’t know anybody in the world that would feel that’s OK. That’s different than just scrutiny.”

Meghan said her past 12 months had been tough — and before her wedding she had no idea what she would face.

She added: “When I first met my now husband my friends were really happy because I was so happy.

Over the past year, the Duchess has faced scrutiny for refusing to divulge details of baby Archie’s birth, refurbishing Frogmore Cottage and travelling on private jets[/caption]

“But my British friends said to me ‘I’m sure he’s great but you shouldn’t do it because the British tabloids will destroy your life.’

“And I very naively, I’m American and we don’t have that there, said ‘What are you talking about. That doesn’t make sense!’ I didn’t get it, so, yeah, it’s been complicated.”

Meghan said she found the constant spotlight particularly tough when she was pregnant.

She added: “I would say, any woman, especially when they are pregnant, you’re really vulnerable and so that was made really challenging.

“And then when you have a newborn, you know?

“So, you add this on top of trying to be a new mom or a newlywed, it’s, well . . .”

DUCHESS REVEALS TABLOID WARNING

MEGHAN revealed she was warned against a relationship with Prince Harry because “the British tabloids will destroy your life”.

The Duchess of Sussex told how after the warning from a British friend, she had “very naively” replied: “What are you talking about.

“That doesn’t make any sense.”

Meghan was speaking during the couple’s recent tour of southern Africa.

It came as it was announced she was suing the Mail on Sunday over an allegation that it unlawfully published a private letter she sent to her estranged father, Thomas Markle.

At the same time Harry issued a ferocious attack on the British tabloids, accusing them of a “ruthless” campaign against Meghan. Harry also issued legal proceedings against the owners of the Sun and the Daily Mirror.

Meghan told the documentary: “When I first met my now husband, my friends were really happy because I was so happy.

“But my British friends said to me: ‘I’m sure he’s great. But you shouldn’t do it because the British tabloids will destroy your life’.

“I never thought this would be easy but I thought it would be fair. That’s the part that’s really hard to reconcile.

“When people are saying things that are just untrue, I don’t know anybody that would feel that’s OK. You have no idea.”

Meghan then told interviewer Mr Bradby: “Thank you for asking, because not many people have asked if I’m OK. The good thing is I’ve got my baby and my husband — and they’re the best.”

The couple have been criticised for taking private jets while demanding others fly less to tackle the climate crisis.

They also came under fire for a taxpayer-funded £2.4million renovation of Frogmore Cottage, refusing to divulge details of Archie’s birth and keeping his christening private.

Harry accused parts of the media of “bullying” him — likening it to his mother Princess Diana.

He said: “Look, part of this job means putting on a brave face and turning a cheek to a lot of this stuff. “But again there’s a lot of stuff that hurts, especially when the majority is untrue. You know I will not be bullied into playing a game that killed my mum.”

Asked if he felt Meghan was under similar pressure to Diana, he replied: “You slightly hit the nail on the head.

“Everything she went through and that happened to her is incredibly raw, every single day and that’s not me being paranoid.

“That’s me just not wanting a repeat of the past.”
