PRETTY Little Liars star Shay Mitchell has given birth to a baby girl – a year after suffering a heartbreaking miscarriage.
The actress, 32, took to Instagram on Sunday to post a sweet photo of her little girl’s hand grasping at hers.
She captioned the pic: “Never letting go”
It’s the first child for Shay and her boyfriend Matte Babel, who have been together since early 2017.
Shay announced her pregnancy via social media in June, five months after she revealed that she had suffered a miscarriage in 2018.
She wrote: “Although it was an amazing year, it didn’t come without some hardships,” she explained in an Instagram Story post in January, sharing a photo of an ultrasound with a broken-heart emoji.
In the first episode of her YouTube series Almost Ready in July, she confessed she was “completely blindsided” by the miscarriage, adding, “I still feel for the one (baby) that I lost…
“I know other women and other friends of mine who’ve gone through a way harder journey.
“It’s just really tough because you feel broken, as a woman, and that’s not a great feeling.”
Shay played Emily Fields in Pretty Little Liars until it ended in 2017.
After suffering her miscarriage, Shay called for her followers to show more compassion and patience with those around them, as you never really know what another person is going through behind closed doors.
She wrote: “In the spirit of the new year, I think that we need to remember that we are all on this journey together—in good times and in bad—and to remind ourselves that we seldom really know or understand the struggles and hardships that other people are going through.
“So, for 2019, let’s all try to be a little more compassionate, empathetic, patient and thoughtful with each other.’
“This sounds like a great resolution to me. I hope that you agree. Happy New Year everyone!”
