Nadine Cole has reportedly signed up for the new series of I’m A Celebrity.
The 34-year-old singer has been confirmed as the ninth contestant on the show.
According to The Sun, Nadine is entering the jungle in the hope to kick start her career again.
However, producers are also hoping that Nadine will be able to still the beans on her relationship with former band mates.
The Sun also revealed that Cheryl Cole is terrified of what her former pal might reveal about the pair’s turbulent relationship.
To many, Girls Aloud looked like the best of friends. But after their split in 2013, things reportedly turned frosty between the pals.
Nadine has let slip on various occasions that there was a rift between the girls.
During an appearance on Celebrity Juice, Nadine admitted the girls were “never friends.”
When the band split in 2013, Nadine claimed that she wasn’t consulted, and slammed their decision to quit.
Cheryl retaliated in an interview with Attitude Magazine, saying that Nadine was “full of s**t.”
Speaking to The Sun in 2018, Nadine said: “There was always a distance between us. A lot of the dancers were my friends from very early on, so I’d be going out and finding the local gay bar, which meant that we distanced ourselves.
“I don’t speak to them. I’ve not spoken to them in a long, long time. Sarah and I occasionally speak. Very occasionally. She phoned me before she went into Celebrity Big Brother and I was like: ‘What are you doing?’ I was worried about how they’d portray her. But that’s it.”
Previously, the girls have spoken out about the tensions that come from having different lifestyles.
While Sarah Harding had a love of partying – and later admitted to struggling with addiction to prescription drugs – Cheryl preferred to relax with a quiet night in.
This meant the band split down the middle, with Sarah and Nadine separating one way while Cheryl, Kimberly and Nicola forming a trio.
“So yeah there was [a divide]. We’re all very, very different characters,” Nadine once told The Sun as she reflected on the frosty dynamics.
“It’s so sad for me to have to admit this stuff now because for so long, there’s the band, and you want everybody to think we’re best friends and we have pillow fights and, you know, drink milkshakes.
“That’s what I wanted it to be. I really, really wanted that to be, but it just wasn’t how it was.”
Nadine has previously been open about the Girls Aloud break up.
In an exclusive interview with Dan Wootton, Nadine lifted the lid on the angry feud that broke up the group.
She said her bandmates Cheryl, Nicola Roberts and Kimberley Walsh were envious she was considered the best singer.
Nadine says: “It was fine at the start but there’s always politics in any band.
“It just happened that I always got more vocals than everybody else, so in terms of people wanting their voice heard, that wasn’t happening.
“And it made people, very bitter. They didn’t like that.”
The singer also said that it made her “so sad” to admit that that was the problem because fans always liked to believe that the “girls were best friends.”
That’s what I wanted it to be. I really, really wanted that to be, but it just wasn’t how it was. We’re all very, very different characters.”
Once Girls Aloud split up rumours flew around that Nadine had decided to end things with the group due to a burgeoning solo career.
She’s strenuously denied ever wanting to split up and says it was her bandmates’ decision to leave the group behind, causing some serious beef with Cheryl Tweedy.
Nonetheless as she had fronted some of the girlband’s biggest hits Nadine’s career looked really promising – but her first album was a complete flop.
Insatiable, which she released in 2010, peaked at No. 47 in the UK charts before bombing out of the Top 100.
In 2002, when Girls Aloud rocketed to fame on Popstars: The Rivals, Nadine was just 17 years old.
And despite her young age, she was put at the centre of the band as its lead singer on huge hits like Something Kinda Ooh, The Promise and Love Machine.
Nadine’s now 34, and we could be seeing a lot more of her following the I’m a Celebrity rumours.
Nadine Coyle was married to professional american footballer Jason Bell.
The pair have a baby girl together, Anaiya, who was born in 2014.
However, the pair split in September 2019 after 11 years together.
A source told The Sun yesterday: “Although Nadine and Jason were never married, they lived as a close family unit and remain good friends as they co-parent their young daughter.
“They still care for one another, but are no longer in a romantic relationship.”
Before Jason, Nadine was notably linked to Hollywood bad boy Jesse Metcalfe.
After the split, rumours abounded that Jesse had cheated, but Nadine denied that the John Tucker Must Die actor had behaved like his famous character.
The pair clearly wish each other well as Nadine has congratulated Jesse on acting projects such as US series Dallas via Twitter.
There are some conflicting reports of Nadine’s net worth.
Some put it at around $13 million, but more conservative estimates say she is worth around $7.5 million – still not to be sniffed at!
However, with the hope that I’m A Celebrity might relaunch her solo career, her net worth could be set to rise.
